<p>The Kenya Bureau of Standards, KEBS, has banned a number of maize flour because they contain high levels of afflatoxin. Consumption of <b>aflatoxins</b> contributes to the mutagenic, carcinogenic (Cancer causing), teratogenic, and immunosuppressive health <b>effects</b> in the body. The adverse <b>effect of aflatoxins</b> in humans ranges from acute hepatic toxicity to chronic disease such as liver cancer, haemorrhages, oedema, and even immediate death.</p>
