A transfer may have moved Mr Sanya from a hockey power house, Friends School Kamusinga, to little known ACK Eshitari Secondary school in Butere Sub- county but, the winning mentality is still rooted in him. Mr Sanya, now heading Eshitari Secondary, pulled a surprise by guiding his team to a sweet victory over perennial National Hockey Girls’ contenders, Buetere Girls, to win the Butere Sub- county finals held over this past weekend.
At the Sub- county Girls’ hockey final; played yesterday, Eshitari surprised Butere 3-1 in a pulsating encounter. Other results saw Butere boys clinch 4 titles in: Handball, Rugby 15’s, Basketball and Hockey.
The term one games take a one week break as schools are on half term break. Action resumes next week with the games culminating at the National stage to be held in April; at Shimo La Tewa High School- Mombasa.

It was a sweet victory for the Gesero Secondary School’s soccer Under 19 boys and girls teams as they successfully defended their Kisii County trophies as the games came to a close at Nyachogochogo secondary on Saturday 8th June, 2019. The Boys’ team popularly known as the Tsunami had to overcome the hard battling Nduru Boys at today’s finals. The game between Gesero and Nduru was decided on spot kicks after both teams failed to score in regulation and extra time.
