The police officer who killed his wife has been arrested by police at the Kenya-Uganda Busia border. “APC PATRICK NYAPARA murdered his wife, a teacher at Navakholo secondary school on 14/3/2019 using a Ceska pistol no KEAPG 1411 and went at large” reads a police report in part.

A search operation was immediately mounted at Malaba and Busia environs today Saturday 16th March, 2019, that led to arrest of the assailant at 2.30pm. Patrick was arrested in a hideout in the interior parts of Nasira village , Nambale sub county in Busia county under the command of SCCIO Navakholo and team. His phone signal had been traced to his hideout. He has been escorted to Kakamega police station for processing and final arraignment in the High Court at Kakamega.

Mr Nyapara, AP officer manning the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) offices in Navakholo, Kakamega County, is said to have fatally shot his 24-year-old lover Christine Maonga on Thursday, March 14. The shooting that occured at Duka Moja estate in Navakholo left Ms Christine, a mother of one, dead. The two had sharply differed on Social media with Christine daring Patrick to commit suicide.

Mr Nyapara will be arraigned once investigations are completed.

The deceased was a teacher of English/ Literature at Navakholo secondary school in the Western region.

The motive behind the killing is yet to be established but it is alleged that Mr Nyapara was angered by Christine’s move to terminate their relationship after the former had ‘heavily’ invested in her University education.
