KENYA INSTITUTE OF CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT VACANCIES

The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development wishes to recruit qualified Professionals for various vacant positions as outlined below.

1.ASSISTANT DIRECTOR -LEGAL SERVICES KICD Grade5 ONE (1) POST (Re-Advertisement)

a)Duties and Responsibilities

The Assistant Director –Legal Services will report to the Director. Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

  • 1.Liaising with departments to identify and ensure that legal risks have been mitigated and appropriate courses of action have been taken; 2.Continuously monitoring compliance with statutory obligations and provide professional Legal advice to the Management;
  • 3.Advice management on legal matters relating to operations and action on legal cases instituted against the Institute;
  • 4.Provide secretarial services to the Council, and to the Senior Management of the Institute;
  • 5.Advice on procurement contracts and ensures that they comply with the relevant laws and regulations;
  • 6.Represent the Institute in court cases;
  • 7.Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Director.

b)Requirement for Appointment

For appointment an applicant must have:

  • (i)Bachelors of Law (LLB) from a recognized Institution;
  • (ii)Post Graduate Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law;
  • (iii)Advocate of the High Court of Kenya With A Valid Practicing Certificate; (iv)Registered member of the Law society of Kenya in good standing;(v)A Member of the Certified Public Secretaries;
  • (vi)Proficiency in computer use and applications; and
  • (vii)Demonstrated outstanding professional competence in legal work and company secretarial practice.

2.PLANNING OFFICER KICDGRADE7 one (1) POST

a)Duties and Responsibilities

The Planning Officerswill report to the Assistant Director, Planning Services. Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

  • 1.Collecting, collating, processing and interpreting statistical data;
  • 2.Implementing and monitoring of the Institute’s strategic plan and service charter;
  • 3.Implementing and evaluating the Institute’s performance contract, master plan;
  • 4.Developing departmental work plans and aligning them to the budget;
  • 5.Monitoring, evaluating and reporting on progress in the implementation of projects and programmes;
  • 6.Conducting economic analysis and strategies;
  • 7.Preparing Ministerial Public Expenditure Review (MPER) and Mid-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) budget; and
  • 8.Providing input in the preparation of development plans.

b)Requirement for Appointment

For appointment an applicant must have:

  • (i)Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Economics, Statistics, Economics and Mathematics, Economics and Finance or Economics and Statistics from a recognized institution; and
  • (ii)Member of a relevant professional body;
  • (iii)Computer literacy;
  • (iv)Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution

3.HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT OFFICER- KICD GRADE 7 ONE (1) POST

a)Duties and Responsibilities

The Human Resource Management Officer will report to the Deputy Director HRM&D. Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

  • 1.Implementing staff induction and orientation programmes; 2.Implementing work place health and safety;
  • 3.Administering compensation and benefit scheme;
  • 4.Undertaking an inventory of vacant positions and preparing reports for decision making;
  • 5.Implementing human resource management policies, regulations, procedures and systems;
  • 6.Preparing various human resource reports;
  • 7.Implementing human resource decisions within existing rules, regulations and procedure; and
  • 8.Complying with human resource statutory and regulatory requirements.

b)Requirement for Appointment

For appointment an applicant must have:

  • (i)Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines:-Human Resource Management; Human Resource Development or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; OR
  • (ii)Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: -Economics; Sociology; Business Administration;Public Administration; Commerce with Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management/Development or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • (iii)A registered member of a recognized professional body;
  • (iv)Computer literacy;
  • (v)Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

4.SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT OFFICER KICD GRADE 7 ONE (1) POST

a)Duties and Responsibilities

The Supply Chain Management Officer will report to the Assistant Director Supply Chain Management. Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

  • 1.Preparing, advertising and distributing procurement documents; 2.Maintaining up-to-date contract register;
  • 3.Sourcing for suppliers through request for quotations;
  • 4.Ensuring timely delivery of goods, services and works;
  • 5.Conducting market research and surveys;
  • 6.Ensuring safe custody of stores;
  • 7.Recommending stores requisitions for issuing;
  • 8.Monitoring the movement of stores;
  • 9.Coordinating identification of unserviceable, obsolete and surplus stores and equipment for disposal;
  • 10.Participating in tender opening and evaluation; and
  • 11.Complying with procurement regulation.

b)Requirement for Appointment

For appointment an applicant must have:

  • (I)Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: -Procurement and Supply Chain Management; Purchasing and Supplies Management; Supply Chain Management; Procurement and Contract Management; Logistics and Supply Chain Management; Procurement and Logistics Management or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • (ii) Full membership to a professional body;
  • (iii) Computer literacy; and
  • (iv) Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution

5.ASSISTANT SECURITY OFFICER KICD GRADE ONE (1) POST

a)Duties and Responsibilities

The Assistant Security Officer will report to the Senior Security Officer.Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

  • 1.Ensuring that Institutes’assets are secured;
  • 2.Implementing security policies;
  • 3.Preparing work plans and budgets for security requirements; 4.Coordinating security operations with public law enforcement agencies; 5.Developing emergency management and contingency procedures; 6.Identifying, investigating and resolving security breaches;
  • 7.Keeping abreast with emerging security challenges and devising appropriate interventions to ensure the organization security is maintained at all times.
  • 8.Monitoring all surveillance cameras and CCTV remote viewer programs.

b)Requirement for Appointment

For appointment an applicant must have:

  • (i)Diploma in any of the following disciplines:-Criminology; Criminology and Criminal Justice; Criminology and Fraud Management; Criminology and Security Management; Security Management or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • (ii)Undergone a six (6) weeks approved security course at CID training school or an approved security course from the military or its equivalent
  • (iii)Served as senior security warden or equivalent for a period of three (3) years.
  • (iv)Proven experience in the use of CCTV and surveillance cameras in the security function.
  • (v)A First Aid Certificate from a recognized institution;
  • (vi)A valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police; and (vii)Computer literacy;
  • (viii)Fulfill the requirement of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

6.ASSISTANT ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN KICD GRADE 9 ONE (1) POST

a)Duties and Responsibilities

The Assistant Engineering Technician will report to the Assistant Director Technical Services. Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

  • 1.Designing of drawings and specifications;
  • 2.Installing electrical/electronic equipment; and
  • 3.Maintaining electrical /electronic equipment and systems in the Institute.

b)Requirement for Appointment

For appointment an applicant must have:

  • (i)Diploma in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • (ii) Registered by Engineers Registration Board of Kenya or relevant professional body;
  • (iii) Computer literacy; and
  • (v)Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution

7.STUDIO TECHNICAL OPERATOR KICD GRADE 10 ONE (1) POST

a)Duties and Responsibilities

The Studio Technical Operator will report to the Assistant Director Technical Services. Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

  • 1.Assisting in the operation of various broadcasting and information equipment’s in radio/television/film studios, computer laboratories, engineering laboratories and dark room.
  • 2.In addition, the officer will assist in the demonstration on the use of the equipment to the trainees and will work under the supervision and guidance of a senior trainer.

b)Requirement for Appointment

For appointment an applicant must have:

  • (i)KCSE C-(Minus).
  • (ii) Diplomain Mass Communication, Media Studies/Science or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • (iii) Computer literacy; and
  • (v) Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

8.ARTISAN( CARPENTRY)KICD GRADE 11 ONE (1) POST

a)Duties and Responsibilities

The Artisan will report to the Senior Estates Officer. Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

  • 1.Making and maintaining woodworks in buildings and other structures; 2.Making and repairing furniture;
  • 3.Carrying out routine checks for repairs and maintenance of furniture and office equipment;
  • 4.Making requisitions for materials;

b)Requirement for Appointment

For appointment an applicant must have:

(i)Passed the National Trade Test II certificate of the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and

(ii) Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), initially Kenya Institute of Education (KIE) is the national curriculum development Centre established through the KICD Act No. 4 of 2013 of the laws of Kenya. The Institutes’core function is to develop research informed curriculum and curriculum support materials for basic and tertiary education and training below the university. KICD is also charged with the responsibility to initiate and conduct research to inform curriculum policies, review and development.In support of the Government’s Youth Initiative to develop a pool of young talents for the Kenyan Labour Market, the Institute runs a six(6) months Internship Program for unemployed Kenyan graduates at degree level. The program provides the youth an opportunity for on-the job experience to build upon the skills they learned at institutions of higher learning as well as for their professional development. This is aimed at enhancing their employability.

REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants for these positions should: –

  1. Be Kenyan citizens; in possession of Diploma/Bachelor’s degree Certificate from a recognized Institution in the relevant discipline; aged between 20 to 30 years;
  2. Have completed a training and graduated in the last two (2) years; and Not have undertaken any other internship program or exposed to work experience related to their area of study since graduation.
  3. Candidates should be persons of integrity;computer literate; in possession of a certificate of good conduct; and have strong written & oral communication skills.
